Callin Cali Home

My best friend is moving to Los Angeles.

She is super excited and I can't lie, I'm pretty stoked as well.

Every house they looked at was gorgeous and amazing with beautiful views.
Last week she called to tell me they bought a house and I immediately drooled over pics.

No, I am not showing you pictures of their house. I have to have permission to do that and the house has to close and they have to move and blablabla.

But I am sharing these few photos from the July 2011 House Beautiful of a cute Cali bungalow.

This one caught my eye easily with the climbing roses and the carved door.

Breakfast nook (we've been over my love) with floor to ceiling built-ins. Win.

Gasp.

I'm a sucker for an outdoor shower so naturally I die.
French doors opening to the outside. I'd be waterlogged for life.

Oh, my plastic/linoleum/rentalhouse shower will be the death of me.

$12 Elephant?

Guess where we went this past weekend....

Yep Sayrah we went to the circus.

Manfriend and I were invited to go to the circus with our friends Marilee and Ben

and it was so much fun.

And Manfriend got a $12 snow cone.
No, you're not mistaken, $12. For a snow cone. In an elephant.

I didn't really know what to expect, I'll be honest.

And I was a bit scared 'cause mama told me they had to leave the circus when I was a bitty baby 'cause I got scured.

Flying Trapeze.
Totally bada$$.

Soar through the air with the greatest of ease

But this, this was the best by far and my favorite of all the acts.

Look at that big baby playin' dead!

I got real close, like nearly jumped in the ring.

And they held each other's tales just like in Dumbo.

And if these pics weren't enough, here's a tiny video for y'all.

"Yay."

Need Some Direction?

I've posted several times about my love for old maps used in decorating.

Well, look a here.

Had a problem containing myself when I flipped to this page in this month's House Beautiful.

Which are my favorite?

Maybe in my Littleman's bathroom? Or just on one wall in his room? Ceiling?
(Littleman is a proper noun and refers to my future little boy. Manfriend is also a proper noun, ahem, JBookout)

Love for the London one duh.

Playroom? Bathroom? Contempo boy bedroom?

I like them. I like them a lot.

New Braunfels

Last Friday I recapped my night in Austin so today I will recap our day/night in New Braunfels.

Saturday morning we loaded up and headed the 45 minutes to float the river and go to Ghostland.

"Ah, this is the life"

The river was super low but still had plenty of agua for our benefit

You can see the difference in water level bridge pillars.

Stopped off on a Island to shot gun a few brews and have a snack.

(Manfriend and cousin Daniel)

After 3 hours we pitched our tent, shoveled fries in our face, boarded the school bus and headed to White Water Amphitheater.

These are the only few pictures from the concert that turned out but you get the gist.

(light show)

(girlfriends)

(3D glasses)

2nd Annual Ghostland camping trip. Success.

Moody Monday

Last night I went and saw Friends with Benefits with my friend Erin.
Super cute movie and I laughed out loud half the movie.
JT and Mila Kunis have such great onscreen chemistry, not to mention they are both hot.

One of the best scenes involved JT rapping to Kriss Kross Jump.

So naturally that is my choice this morning.

Enjoy. And go see that movie.

I Steal Paper Menus

Last Friday we headed to Austin to have a little party time before floating the river in New Braunfels.

After checking into our hotel we went to dinner here

We were told by a friend to try it out.

(Scan of paper menu I took home with me. You're allowed to do it. I asked.)

Erin, Elizabeth, Manfriend and I sat outside on their cute little patio so we could get a good sweat in before consuming our body weight in yummy culinary delights.

Fist things first, cocktails.
Meish, our waitress, suggested that we order the Picture Room Punch.

It has 3 different alcohols which is why she (waitress) referes to it as the "Pantie Dropper Punch."

Side note: It started to rain after our starters so we moved inside. I ordered another "Pantie Dropper" from the man who delivered our dinner...he was not impressed and did not share Meish's humor..he was the general manager. My bad.

For starters we split the sauteed sweetbreads and the boiled oysters.
No, I did not eat the sweetbreads but the corn risotto was ah-mazing.
Yes, I ate the oysters...they don't have eyes so I don't really consider them meat.

Moving on (and inside where we sat in the actual "Picture Room")

I chose the Olive Crusted Sea Scallops. Once again, no eyes people.
I decided to be the tipsy (that punch is a "sipper" fo sho) complicated girl and substituted the mussels for the risotto served with the Olive Oil Poached Branzino (that's a fish and it has eyes).

Meish: No problem chica.
Tipsey Complicated Girl: U da best babe.

On to dessert.
forgot to keep this menu :( but this is what it looked like

That is some kind of blueberry cake/tart a la mode. Don't recall the actual name.

That is a peach and whipped cream thing on top of a biscuit with biscotti crumbles. It was good but the biscuit was more like a scone and really crunchy and fell apart.
Go with the berry thing.

After dinner we met some friends at a bar and I kicked some random dudes bottom in Ski ball. Then Manfriend kicked my bottom in Ski ball.

"Whatever, this is lame. Where next?"

Luster Pearl to meet with more friends and some cousins.
They have food there too in case you are ready to eat again.

Which these two were.

Whatever, they can be mad at me for posting this but it could be worse...

Yep, that is some chick with serious swamp a$$. No, we did not know her. No, I did not introduce myself. We got a few good chuckles out of it. And I thought y'all would also.

Aren't I a good sharer?

A Little Hula Health

Over Easter break my mom and I bought a Hula Hoop.

We went to Target and tested out the pink sparkly one, the blue and white stripe one, and the plane colored ones.
She is 56. I am 24. The 30 year-old lady next to us was buying one also...her daughter is 5.

When I got back to Houston, I was watching Bravo and drinking wine (duh) with my friend Belen, explaining why my abs and obliques were so sore.

She jumped up and ripped this out of a magazine.

I meant to show y'all this a long time ago but had misplaced the clipping.

I have enlarged each exercise for you. You're welcome.

I do not wear a sports bra and spandex shorts.

In fact, the first time I was in a maxi dress and 3 glasses of Malbec deep.

This just felt weird/creepy/gonnathrowmybackout

I am a pro and #1 & #2, haven't attempted #3 and almost broke the chandelier while "mastering" #4.

So, now all you need is a sparkly $6 Hula Hoop from TarJay.

Hula to it baby!
