Travelin Freak Show

Not really freak show but I liked that as a title best.
Anyways,
I love to travel. And man am I about to be traveling.

Tomorrow I am headed to Austin to hang out with some friends and attend a continuing education class.

Next weekend Manfriend has training in New Orleans so we are heading back almost 1 year to the date that I packed up my shiz and hit the road. Cross my heart, there will be a full, detailed recap on that trip. And it will probably involve some late night dance parties and cheese fries from F&Ms.

June is full of weddings and lake trips.
July, meh, not much.

Fast forward to September.

Ah, September.

That would be London.

And Dublin

And Glasgow

Castle Forbes in Aberdeen, Scotland

That's right friends.
Dad, Sister and I are headed 'cross the pond for 11 days to gallivant around, draw out the 'i's, drink pints and bond with each other.

We are starting our trip in London. Our plan is to hit Bath, Stonehenge, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Aberdeen, then end up back in London.

I am in charge of the itinerary. That is where y'all come in.

Ya see, when I lived there I was in student housing and we stayed in hostels, therefore, I know zip, zilch, zero about hotels in any of these places.

Have you been? Where did you stay? What did you munch on? Favorite brewski?

Why am I sharing this with yall today?
Oh, I don't know.
Probably becuase I have been starring at pictures like this

and this

and some of these

Just trying to plan.
Because I am a planner.
To a fault.
That's what I do.

I PLAN.

But sometimes I need help.
Like now.

And incase you get parched while you are helping me out this weekend, I got you this.

See, I'm thoughtful.

Wanna See Something Hot?

I thought so.

Ya see, I watched Country Strong the other night and fell in love.
Deeply. Hopelessly.

And if you have seen the movie then you probably have an idea of what you are about to see.

Feast your eyes friends.

mmmmmm

But alas, his heart it set on another

But I guess I am OK with that.

She is one foxy lady

And I just don't think I can compete with this

I bow down gracefully.

And you might as well check his voice out.

Ahem, you're welcome.

Sister's Living Room

My sister and her husband bought a house in Charlotte and have been in the process of moving/unpacking/decorating.

Sister sent me some pictures of their living room and asked for my advice/opinions/help on decorating it.

The room has huge potential.
The floors are in great condition and they have a pretty blank slate to start with.

The fireplace is a bit awkward but long term plans are to carry the brick across and have custom built ins flanking both sides. I think?

Sister and husband plan on painting the walls and are considering painting the brick (my vote).

Sister is in Seminary so they are working with one income and are on a budget. That being said, we are working with the furniture they have. The couch and chair are in good condition and are luckily pretty neutral.

Here is the "idea board" I came up with for them.

I suggested the seagrass rug for texture and to quiet the room a bit. The area is on the smaller side so they won't need something too large and therefore can save some $$ there. Their coffee table is also in good condition and they both like the dark wood.

The TV stand was handmade by Danny. I have suggested sanding and staining to match the coffee table. I also think they should either add two more doors and some neat hardware or take the doors off completely.

The main color will come from throw pillows, drapes and then their accessories.
I happen to have a lot of different fabric so that saves $$ and pillows are so easy to make that you can change your mind and switch them out whenever you want.

The plan is to keep it neutral and calm with pops of color and pattern that can be easily changed downt he road.

Thoughts?

Now you see me

(with long pony)

Now you don't.

I did it.
I chopped off my hair.

And I love, love, love it.

If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say nuthin at all.
But if you do have some sassy words like "hey chica you lookin good," well then by all means, send them my way.

In other news while I was home.....
The pup got his stitches out.
When I say pup I mean 11 year old Floyd.

Happy Easter Weekend

I'm home with my family in Memphis this weekend.

Hope y'all have a wonderful Easter.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
Matthew 28:5-7

Lucy Laucht and Anthro

A few weeks ago I emailed by friend Brittany about this outfit

posted by stylist Lucy Laucht

Brittany liked it also.
I wanted it.
I still do.

So, guess what happened inside my tummy and throat when I saw this on Anthropologie's website....

I'd say it's a sign.

Help Charlie Heal

Last week I was browsing MFAMB and came across a post Jenny made about a nugget named Charlie.

I love babies. Therefore, I read on.

Brief and Ignorant Summary
(as I am not a science person and really don't understand a lot of it)

Charlie was born in August 2010.
He was having seizures nearly 12 hours later.
After an MRI it was learned he suffered 2 strokes in utero leaving the right side of his brain damaged.
He has a condition called Craniosynostosis where two skull plates fuse together too early
He needs Craniofacial surgery which cost $1 gazillion of which only 50% is covered by insurance.

And that is where we come in people.

Did I mention I love babies?

There is a blog set up called Help Charlie Heal where you can read more scientific and detailed information and make donations. You can also read all the updates on his progress and doctor appointments.

Also, Charlie's big brother Walker is selling cards with his original art on Etsy to help raise money for his precious angel baby brother.

They are $20 for a set of 8.

And come with a little info on Walker and Charlie.

Plus you know that you helped this sweet baby

I'd pay $50 just to hold him!

What are you waiting for?

I think his voice is totally dreamy.

Just a spoon full of sparkle

I love me some sparkle and shimmer.

And really, what is wrong with that?

I have debated these Toms long enough.
In the bag you go Toms.

And while I'm at it

why not a shimmery throw

sassy hot pants

Tory B sparkly jacket

Or perhaps just a shimmering Manfriend?

Better get a hold of myself.

Happy Friday and remember
