Rise and Shine

This is what I am facing today.

If only I lived a life of privilege...

Or had a killer laundry room

It wouldn't be nearly as daunting.

Happy Saturday :)

San Fran Numero Tres

Bet you can't guess how we started our Sunday morning...

Near Golden Gate Park and the de Young museum there was a cute little
eatery called CrepeVine that whipped me up this little number

Savory Crepe with cheese, apple sausage, spinach...side of bacon duh

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day ya know.

Between the de Young and the Academy of Sciences
there was a gorgeous outdoor amphitheater

(imagine twinkling lights, wine, and a wedding party ahhh!)

and fountains (my fav)

While we were walking around the city our first day in San Fran,
we discovered that the de Young had a Post-Impressionist exhibit
with Van Gogh, Bonnard, Gauguin and more from the
Musee d'Orsay's permanent collection

It was an awesome exhibit and took me right back to Europe.

I even enjoyed the bathroom

glossy and glassy minty green and white marble counters....yes, please.
Thank you.

Then I found something very interesting

A little background on this piece...

In 2005 (my freshman year of college) some punks burned down an
African American Baptist Church in (or outside) or Birmingham, Alabama.

Imagine my surprise when the plaque revealed that this charred wood was
from that church.

When we were finished browsing the gift shop and snapping picks of the powder rooms,
we headed to the Lobster Roll cart outside for a "snack."
It was voted best by the NBC Today Show (a few years ago)

Then we stopped by the Japanese Tea Gardens

A few miles into the park, headed towards the Pacific, we stumbled upon
a tranquil waterfall

and babbling brook.

A few miles later...

we hit the Pacific.

After a romantic walk on the beach
(Chuck frolicking in the water, Sarah talking to the dogs and little children)
we walked up another hill to the Cliff House

which used to look like this
Gasp!!! Can you only imagine?!

We still enjoyed the views.
And the treats they had to offer
Bet you can't guess which one was mine....

And look what the nice man brought me. I obviously looked famished.
Now you see it

Now you don't

When we left the Cliff House, we jumped on a bus and headed for
Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies

But in the middle of that park I got very nervous
and this is why

there was a "shoe park" surrounding a little bathroom building

which was a bit unsettling/creepy strange...like a bunch of children had just
disappeared and left their shoes.

But then, there they were.
Unfortunately we were arriving near sunset
But it was still beautiful. So we took a pic, gazed in awe,
and headed to the bus stop back to the hotel.

Another full day on the books.
And man were my dogs barking.

I had to say it.

Friends of DePelchin

Tonight I am heading to a fundraiser benefiting
the DePelchin Children's Center.

DePelchin's mission is to strengthen the lives of children by enhancing their mental health and physical well-being.

The host tonight, Friends of DePelchin ,is a group of young professionals that are committed to supporting DePelchin's mission through community awareness, philanthropy and volunteerism.

The event tonight is being held at Nouveau Art Bar in Midtown.

If you are looking for a fun way to meet young professionals or donate to a great cause while having a drink and a few tasty hors D'oeuvres, then head on out.

You can view the invitation here

Nothing like a little bling

Now, correct me if I am wrong,

are we not recovering from a recession?

Don't be confused...
I LUV me something sparkly

I would just choose to display it a bit differently.

San Francisco Day 2

Saturday morning we woke pretty early and boarded the ever famous San Fran street car.

Thank goodness because these hills were killer.

And so were the views at the top.

There is a restaurant right at the end of the street car line called
The Buena Vista that is known for Irish Coffee

(Got two thumbs up from this guy)

We sat right at the bar and watched them turn 'em out.

They serve nearly 2,000 per day!

After a full belly (I had the french toast AND eggs & bacon),
we rented some bikes from Blazing Saddles and biked across the bridge

Please notice the outfit...biked over 20 miles in that baby.

Our first stop on the other side of the Bay was Sausalito

which reminded me of being on the coast of Italy.

Six miles up the road (literally up)
we stopped in Old Mill Park to hug a few Red Woods

By this point I was getting pretty tired.

And wouldn't you know,
in between Old Mill and Tiburon we would stumble upon an "option out"

Unfortunately, our trade in value wasn't what we had hoped.

When we settled into Sam's Anchor Cafe, my legs were like jell-o
and my tummy was screamin'

Lucky for me they had a vast amount of fried potatoes and a to-die-for
Seared Ahi Tuna sandwich.

After a few beers (and BAMA's loss to SC), it was time to head to the ferry

About this time, my camera started to die

But I got one more shot of the bridge
(all the white splashes in the back are sails, it was AWESOME)

And then Creepy looking Alcatraz

Then it died for good.

For dinner that night we went to the Marina District and ate at A16
which is known for their wood fire pizzas and, once again, an extensive wine list.

But before we ate there we had a few glasses and apps at a quaint little wine bar
right around the corner called Bin 38.
I would suggest trying out their goat cheese croquettes.

And then I died.

For the night at least.
