Can't Live Without While Traveling II

Hi all. Sarah here in an internet cafe in Dun Laoghaire. Sorry for such a late post today but I have had an interesting time with my blogger the past few days. Anyways, today's post is from my virtual friend Kindra. She has been so sweet and patient with me today from the other side of the Atlantic so please take a moment and check out her cute post and then go visit!

I'm Kindra and you can visit me here! I'm filling in for Sarah today while she is off having a great time in the UK! And by the way I am sooo jealous as I sit here at my desk and dream of being away! However I was so excited when she asked me to guest blog and why not write about travel?



I for one loveee to travel! I am always thinking of a new place to go. Though, since I started a new job in April I haven't been anywhere since my trip to NYC in March. Since I can't take any vacation until January I can just dream of my next destination! Here are a few necessities I MUST have while traveling:

Travel Attire by kmyers19 featuring short sleeve tops

1. I always take my Northface Backpack and a cute purse! Most of the time I stuff the purse into the backpack so it is 1 carryon!



2. Ipod-I must have music! Especially if I am sitting next to a chronic snorer or screaming child.



3. Comfy shoes...a must.



4. A gossip mag. I need to keep up on my celebrity news.



5. Blackberry-gotta have communication!



6. My RayBans-especially if I am sitting next to the window and it's super sunny.



7. A scarf. You can take if off and use as a light pillow or wrap it around to keep you warm.



8. A basic tee and jeans. You can always dress it up or down :)

Help Charlie Heal

Last week I was browsing MFAMB and came across a post Jenny made about a nugget named Charlie.

I love babies. Therefore, I read on.

Brief and Ignorant Summary

(as I am not a science person and really don't understand a lot of it)

Charlie was born in August 2010.

He was having seizures nearly 12 hours later.

After an MRI it was learned he suffered 2 strokes in utero leaving the right side of his brain damaged.

He has a condition called Craniosynostosis where two skull plates fuse together too early

He needs Craniofacial surgery which cost $1 gazillion of which only 50% is covered by insurance.

And that is where we come in people.

Did I mention I love babies?

There is a blog set up called Help Charlie Heal where you can read more scientific and detailed information and make donations. You can also read all the updates on his progress and doctor appointments.

Also, Charlie's big brother Walker is selling cards with his original art on Etsy to help raise money for his precious angel baby brother.

They are $20 for a set of 8.

And come with a little info on Walker and Charlie.

Plus you know that you helped this sweet baby

I'd pay $50 just to hold him!

Just a Thought

I am a little bit upset right now...

I was visiting my friend Cat over at Perpertual Perfection and saw some pretty hateful anonymous comments from her post yesterday.

Yesterday Cat posted about the insanity that shopping for your wedding dress while picking up tires and toilet paper would be. Well, you can do just that now because Costco is selling wedding dresses.

Cat is cute, sarcastic, sweet and generous.

However, some people did not read what she was saying and instead they attacked her, insinuated that she was making fun of poor people and so forth.

Someone actually quoted scripture to her implying that she does not have a Christian heart.

And that is where I get angry and upset people.

Why do we start blogs?

I started mine as an outlet/journal for my mental sanity.

I wanted to share things I love/dislike.

I wanted to share my opinions and pretty pictures.

I wanted to keep my family and friends "in the loop" on the general events of my day to day life.

Some bloggers have strong opinions, some don't.

Some bloggers use lots of profanity and sexual innuendos, some don't.

Some bloggers are sarcastic, some aren't.

If a blog "offends" me, guess what...I don't read it.

I sure as heck do not leave anonymous comments intended to make the person feel bad about themselves or shameful.

But  if you do feel compelled to leave something hateful then please have the nerve to leave your name.

I applaud Cat for her honesty and opinions.

I applaud her for her responses to these comments and her ability to remain calm and classy.

That being said, I want to thank all you bloggers that go out on a limb daily and share your thoughts and lives with me. I promise I will never hurt your feelings intentionally and if I ever "offend" you, please email me directly and I will send you a handwritten letter of apology and large Hershey Kiss.

Now, if you feel so inclined, go show Cat some love.

Virtual Friend and Gift Giver

Look what came for me last week!

My friend Cat from Perpetual Perfection sent this over to me.

If you remember, I blogged about her giveaway here a few weeks ago.

I didn't win.

But she fell in love with me so she sent me one anyways.

That's what happens people! You show some blog love and gifts magically appear at your doorstep.

And there is proof....

Most of my posts are simply pictures of beautiful spaces so I am totally going to take this opportunity to help you get to know me a bit better.

Here goes nothing....

1. I am completely and utterly obsessed with cheese

I could eat it on a cracker, by the block, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack...My favorites lately are a nice creamy brie or stinky blue. Give me a loaf of bread and a slab of cheese and I will be your best friend :) Mean it.

2. I am one of 4 kids ranging in age from 34-22. We are all spread out in different cities (Memphis, Charlotte, Houston, and soon, Fayetteville, AR). We all look insanely alike and have a innate ability to fight like cats and dogs while still loving each other like crazy. We give a whole new meaning to dis-functional

3. One of my favorite movies of all times is Fletch

Chevy Chase cracks my a$$ up and I could quote that movie all day long every day and make myself giggle. If you are unfamiliar then I suggest you get familiar and rent it.

4. I love everything that has to do with babies. Their baby smell, tiny socks, cuddly blankets, weird food, dimply smiles, rubber band legs and big bellies, giggles...One day I will have a whole army of babies that have chubby legs and the smoothest skin.

5. Jennifer Hudson and I are members of weight watchers. I joined 6 months ago and am still going strong (minus the 2 slices of cake last night at Puppy's birthday party). I love the accountability that weighing in each week forces me to have and my leader Rochelle is hysterical. I have officially lost 13.6 pounds and gone from a 10 to a 6. I ain't scared to tell ya the truth! J.Hud is beating me going from like a 16 to a 4 but we are still friends.

6. I can talk to a wall for hours but am completely terrified when it comes to public speaking. I can introduce myself to a stranger but will sweat through my shirt at the thought of standing in front of a group of people. And wouldn't you know that in 3 weeks I will have to do just that, stand in front of a group of over 100 people at my sister's rehearsal dinner and deliver a speech/toast that I have yet to write from utter anxiety of what is to come.

7. And the last random "get to know me" fact.....

I am a sucker for travel. The past 12 months I have been to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Dallas, Austin, Memphis, Charlotte, Washington D.C., San Diego, Mobile, Pensacola, Baton Rouge, and Tuscaloosa. I was born to travel and love being in different cities, especially when they include people that I love.

When visiting with my new virtual friends at Our Transatlantic Love,

I was turned onto Shannon's Blog and her little "So What" game she plays on Wednesdays.

I decided to play along, seeing that this Hump Day has been particularly daunting.

• So what if I had a large slice of chocolate cake three days in a row this week and just googled what's on the menu at Dessert Gallery
• So what if some days I would rather hibernate than face reality
• So what if the people I work with make me want to scream profane words as loud as I can while stomping my feet like a little kid
• So what if my belly dun-lapped over my pants today

New Friend

Well, sort of....

I have added a new blog to my "Some Fav Friends" page.

But by no means is Amber a new friend...

This gorg (for reals) girl is also from Memphis and became a Tri Delta at Alabama during my reign as assistant rush chair.

She is super talented, outgoing, genuine, and as it turns out,

quite the romantic.

As an added bonus, we both have hottie manfriends born and bred in Houston.

Fortunately for her, her manfriend isn't a Longhorn.
